Remainder by Tom McCarthy

remainder

A man receives enormous financial compensation for a mysterious accident, which—it becomes obvious—has greatly affected him. He becomes obsessed with recreating settings and events, and the reader is told about them in excruciating detail. After I finished this dreadful novel, I looked up the author and learned he’s also an “artist”. This novel tries too hard and doesn’t achieve anything, except being annoying.
