NW by Zadie Smith

The northwest corner of London sets the stage for good storytelling. This novel follows the lives of best friends Leah and Natalie as they grow up on the council estate of Caldwell. Leah is more easy-going, but nevertheless afraid of change. Natalie is driven and ambitious, crafting a life without being fully aware of it. Their very different, yet intersecting lives are also interspersed with those of street-wise Felix and Nathan. NW beautifully tells of love, vice, ambivalence, crime and much more with incredible images and realistic dialogue.
