The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

This novel tells of two little girls who go missing in the woods near their homes. Their unique relationship (One of them is a selective mute.) and their families’ histories are layered onto the main story as it happens and told by different characters’ perspectives. The result is captivating and expansive. I particularly liked the range of characters and how their uniqueness came across thanks to the book’s structure.
