What We All Long For by Dionne Brand

I don’t remember how I learned of this book or why I chose to read it, but I’m thrilled that I did. The characters’ stories are very compelling, and the novel has this incredible awareness and wisdom that’s immediate and modern. Dionne Brand’s descriptions are raw and fresh. I appreciated how she celebrates Toronto’s multi-facetedness. My only criticism is that the ending feels somewhat unlikely.
